Oped: I run an edtech platform I hope you barely use
Last spring, I summarized Thinking Nation's relationship and history with technology on our blog. I wanted to make the point that while the technology is critical to building a new way to measure of success in social studies, its use should be minimal. To reread that piece, go here.
This week's blog expands on that premise and highlights a recent Oped I wrote for eSchoolNews: "I run an edtech platform I hope you barely use." There is an excerpt below, but please head over to eSchoolNews to read the full piece.
At Thinking Nation, we cherish student thinking and always want to consider ways to deepen and center that thinking in classrooms, not diminish it. What ways have you found technology to be integrated that enhance, rather than detract from, student thinking? Please share in the comments or as a reply to our newsletter.
New Episode of Thinking Historically About!
In our most recent episode of Thinking Historically About, I sit with Amy Gusick, Curator of Anthropology and Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) Officer at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. This was such a fun conversation around the origins of Los Angeles and the Natural History Museum's "Becoming Los Angeles" exhibit. Give it a listen!
